Summer Closing

Just like that, summer is over and we are headed back to school. What a summer we had, I am trying my best to hold on to these moments with my boys. They say you have 18 summers, I am sure hoping for many more than that but I will make the best of them and each day I have with them.

Kicked the summer off with an epic road trip starting up to the panhandle where we visited the Florida Caverns, taught Clarkson to fish, visited with Wes's Aunt + Uncle, and got our minds into relaxation mode. From there we headed to Baton Rouge for a night where we stayed at a cute horse farm… take me back to my roots!

After that, it was full steam ahead to Dallas where we were able to connect with my Aunt + Uncle. We stayed outside of their hometown in Grapevine at a stellar RV Resort on Lake Grapevine. There we enjoyed the town, took a sunset sail out on the lake, and enjoyed some killer BBQ. It was such a cute little town with a sweet charm about it. From there we were off to my Aunt + Uncle’s Ranch which is about two hours south of Dallas. What a fun playground for Clarkson… well and his parents. A couple of years ago they purchased over 400 acres, it’s really neat because the land has so much to it, like a river, a canyon area, an old limestone quarry, and then as you would expect pasture land. We were able to buggy and hike around so much of the property. Clarkson loved that but I think his favorite was the animals and caring for them. They have added goats, donkeys, cows, and a bull thus far. It was so cute seeing Clarkson tending to farm chores with such enthusiasm and love for the animals.

Leaving the farm was a hard departure for Clarkson, he grew quite the bond with the animals, the land, and his extended family. So much love! We will defiantly be back but for now, New Orleans was calling and we were on our way. We stopped for a night and did some dinner and lite exploring of the french quarter… Beignets were a must! We were pleasantly surprised at the state park there, it was well equipped and beautiful sites only about 15mins to the french quarter… we will certainly return. From there we were headed to Seaside for our final stop and to enjoy several days beachside. If you haven’t been you need to go, it is so sweet up there. Not only are the beaches and sunsets stunning the quaint beach towns will steal your heart. One night we went down for dinner and a fun kids' concert that was put on at the amphitheater for Clarkson. It was so sweet, and Clarkie loved running around with the other area kids and participating in the music. The park we stayed at was so well done. It was Topsail State Park but unlike many Central Florida State Parks they had a trendy coffee shop, bike rentals, a pool, an Italian ice truck and more… so cute! Also, they did a turtle release while we were there which you know made Clarkson super excited!

This was all just the beginning of summer, a kick-off might we call it #Summertoremember2022. The remainder of the summer was spent loving on family and friends here in town. We did spend time beach and boat side, which always fuels the soul. I also love seeing Clarkson grow a true love for the water, just like his momma! We also had some summer camps and bible studies thrown in the mix. It was good fun but excited to be back into some routine and order, but for sure dreaming up what we might do next summer!
